Following recent guidance from the Health and Safety Executive regarding laptop computer charging trolleys, Loxit are pleased to confirm the following:
Testing and Safety
All Loxit Laptop trolleys conform to the legal requirements of electrical safety as defined in the European Harmonised Standards for the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95.
Test Standards: EN 60950-1: 2006
Information Technology equipment – Safety - Part 1: General requirements
Standards
EN 50366: 2003 +A1: 2006
Household and similar electrical appliances - Electromagnetic fields
In order to comply with the LVD, Loxit’s trolleys have been tested by an independent electrical testing house, with the requisite number of working laptop computers.
Written Declarations of Conformity relating to the CE compliance are available on request.
All Lapbank Trolleys are CE marked, clearly labelled with user guidance for safe operation and maintenance and contact details for the user if required.
Stowage of cables.
All of Loxit’s laptop trolleys have cable storage to prevent damage occurring to the electrical cables during normal operation of the trolley. The cable storage is either in the form of a rebated edge to the top of the trolley which when coupled with the non-slip mat prevents the cables and plugs from trailing the trolley, or a shelf at the bottom to the rear of the trolley which securely stores the cables.
Additional electrical safety
Loxit’s trolleys have individual mains input cables which are RCD protected and plugged into the switch box. These cables are easily replaceable should they become damaged.
Loxit’s soft start and surge protection option is available where large numbers of laptops are being charged. This phases the start up of the laptop charging over a period of seconds, thus reducing the draw on the electricity supply, eliminating the problem of a ring circuit’s Miniature Circuit Breaker (fuse) tripping.
Products without CE marking
For any laptop trolley or cabinet which has been historically supplied without CE markings, Loxit confirm that it has been tested in accordance with the legal requirements of the European Harmonised Standards of the LVD as detailed above.
2 or more cable products
For any mobile products which include 2 or more mains input cables, these still comply with the legal requirements of the LVD. Please ensure that the cables are switched off at the mains, unplugged and securely stowed on the top of the trolley which has a castle top and non-slip mat to prevent movement of cables, prior to unlocking the wheels and moving the trolley.
Safe operation labelling
For any Lapbank trolley products which do not include the relevant best practice advice in the form of labelling, please contact Loxit for free self adhesive labels for safe use of the trolley.
Safety advice
The mains input to the Lapbank trolley must only be plugged into and removed from a switched mains plug socket which is turned off.
Please ensure the mains input is unplugged before unlocking the wheels and moving the trolley.
Do not drop the RCD plug, it contains sensitive electronics and may become damaged.
Mains input cables must be inspected daily for damage and wear. If any fault or damage is found with any mains input cable, remove all power sources and stop using immediately. Contact Loxit Limited on +44 (0) 1625 572 233 for a replacement cable.
Visit www.loxit.com for contact details or sales@loxit.com to e-mail.
Under no circumstances should repairs be made to the mains input cable.
This Lapbank laptop trolley must only be used by a competent adult and must not be used if this can not be assured. If you are in doubt please refer to your Health and Safety Co-ordinator and/or Health and Safety Manual for guidance.
Depending upon the size and weight of the Lapbank trolley, two people may be required to safely move the trolley.
This product requires PAT testing at maximum 12 monthly intervals.
